On Friday, 4 March, Governor Martyn Roper and Premier Wayne Panton joined the Ministry of Sustainability & Climate Resiliency to plant two trees at the Government Administration Building.

The tree planting was in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee as part of the local ‘Plant a Tree for the Jubilee’ initiative.

The team planted a silver thatch donated by Gary Chisholm and a mahogany facilitated by Caribbean Blooms.

The silver thatch joins another thatch palm planted in 2012 in commemoration of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee, while the mahogany is close to the main vehicular entrance.

Both trees are now pinned on the national tree planting digital map to count towards the year-long goal of planting 70 trees per constituency, including 70 mahogany trees. For more information or to get involved, visit https://www.gov.ky/national-tree-planting/
