The 2022 Inter-Primary Schools Sports Competition held at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex 6-8 April, featured 21 schools participating with over 630 students hitting the track and field to compete for podium placements, with two athletes setting meet records.
Red Bay Primary School’s Gabriella Linton shattered the shot put record in the girls’ age-11 division. She threw 7.20 metres to blow by the previous record of 6.51m.
“I feel surprised,” Linton told the Cayman Compass after her throw. “I didn’t know there was a record for it but I’m really happy that I broke it.”
First Baptist Christian School’s Keion McLean claimed the long jump record in the boys’ age-12 division, with a leap of 4.47m. His jump bested the previous record of 4.25m.
At the end of the event, McLean also earned champion boy for his age division after making the podium in all of his other events.
In addition, Red Bay defended their title for the fifth consecutive year, winning the overall competition with 284.9 points, just ahead of Prospect Primary School at 272 points
