The 2026 Inter-Primary Athletics Championships followed the momentum of the Inter-Secondary Athletics Championships, which concluded on 5 March with a third consecutive championship in the high school division.

This trend of dominant streaks continued into the primary school competition, held from 9-12 March at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex, as Red Bay Primary School secured its third consecutive title in the Large Schools division.

The victory was anchored by a series of high-level performances, most notably by the senior boys’ 4x100m relay team, which established a new record for the event with a time of 55.74 seconds.

Coming second in the Large Schools division was Prospect Primary School followed by Sir John A. Cumber Primary School who claimed third.

In the Small Schools division, the combined force of North East Schools – comprising Edna M. Moyle Primary School and East End Primary and Nursery School – claimed the top spot on the podium.

Red Bay Primary saw further success with Tajirah Stewart winning Division 3 as well as Victrix Ludorum – female champion athlete – while Denae Williams took the Division 4 title.

The male division champions featured Ethan Thompson from Theoline L. McCoy Primary School in Division 1, Jahvier Bartley of North East Schools in Division 2, Jevon Tulloch of Prospect Primary in Division 3, and JJ McDonough of Cayman International School in Division 4.

Jaevion Barrett rounded out the winners by securing the Division 5 title for Red Bay Primary.

Barrett also secured the Victor Ludorum – male champion athlete – but he shared the title with three other athletes due to a four-way tie. Also holding the title are JJ McDonough, Ethan Thompson and Jevon Tulloch.

  1. It is heartening to see so many of our High School and Primary School athletes perform so well. Has Govt considered hosting the Carifta Track and Field Championsips again?. We were the hosts some years ago and it was truly a revelation to see so many athletes from around the Caribbean performing at the highest level.
