Logic Golf Invitational raises $20,000 for Meals on Wheels

More than 90 players in 23 teams raised $20,000 for Meals on Wheels at the inaugural Logic Golf Invitational at the North Sound Golf Club.

“It was an incredible day,” said Logic Vice-President, Commercial and Customer Care Pamela Ebanks-Small. “In addition to raising funds and awareness for such an important organization like Meals on Wheels, it was also a great way to raise awareness for our expanding Business Solutions platform.”

The local not-for-profit organisation provides free, hot, nutritious meals to seniors, the homebound and the disabled throughout the Cayman Islands.

“We are so grateful to our friends at Logic for their continued support of Meals On Wheels,” said Rob Imparato, Meals on Wheels chairman. “They are outstanding corporate citizens and true champions of the fight against senior hunger. Thanks also to everyone who participated and donated to MOW.”

Meals on Wheels General Manager Jennifer West said the charity will use the funds raised to provide 4,000 hot meals and 4,000 hearty soups to seniors in need.

The Economics and Statistics Office (ESO) started to conduct its Spring Labour Force Survey on Sunday, 1 May 2022.

The survey collects data on employed and unemployed persons in the Cayman Islands, as well as those who are not in the labour force.

Trained interviewers with ESO ID cards will administer the surveys to approximately 2,000 randomly selected households. These interviewers will exercise appropriate COVID-19 protocols using personal protective equipment (PPE), the ESO said in a press release.

The data collected is kept in the strictest confidence as mandated by the Statistics Act (2016 Revision). Individual data will not be published or used outside of the ESO and is exempted from the Freedom of Information Act.

Scotiabank introduces new parental leave policy

Scotiabank Cayman has adopted a new standard for parental leave for employees. This includes increased fully paid leave for all parents welcoming a new child, including adoptive parents, legal guardians and parents who have given birth.

The bank increased maternity from 13 weeks to 16 weeks, whereas fathers, adoptive parents and appointed legal guardians with a new child, will receive four fully paid weeks of parental leave

Human resources manager Janelle Milburn said the enhanced parental leave reinforces Scotiabank’s commitment to a culture of diversity and welfare of employees. “It is also a progressive move to accommodate and respect personal dynamics and the family situation of each of our employees, already helping to drive our business success,” she said.

Anya Schnoor, regional Executive Vice President added, “No matter where Scotiabankers are located, they will be able to expect quality coverage and flexibility that affords them the time away from work to support their families.”
