Tourism Minister Kenneth Bryan has said changes to government’s COVID-19 regulations are on the way and many in the community will be “happy” with what is to come.
Though pressed on what the changes look like, the minister urged patience, saying, “Let’s wait to see what the announcements are and we should get that in about a week.”
Bryan was speaking on Wednesday night on the Cayman Compass Facebook talkshow The Resh Hour.
He stopped short of confirming speculation that the mask mandate and the pre-arrival testing will be coming to an end, only saying coyly, “I think everybody will be happy and as minister, I am happy.”
Bryan said the government caucus has looked at the proposed changes to the restrictions, and this must now go through the process of Cabinet approval, after which Premier Wayne Panton will made the formal announcement.
Panton, he said, will determine how that will be done, either by a press briefing or a media release.

Keep the pre-arrival testing and mask requirements.
It undeniably makes flying to the island more attractive.
Would you rather fly with individuals who have tested negative within twenty-four hours of being on the flight with you or grave uncertainty?
Learn to live with Covid. It’s the only way it will ever be eradicated.
Masks, tests!
I agree. I don’t have a problem with the pre-arrival tests or masks on the plane and airport.
They need to end this today. Especially the masks. If not … they need to charge all violators (aka themselves) for failing to abide by there own boneheaded regulations. ..And charge them the maximum fine.
To the cabinet: Please stop “mulling” and make a decision for goodness sake. As far as being “patient”, don’t you think folks have been patient long enough?
All of the above comments are very relevant. Travel Cayman with all its hiccups needs to END.
This whole thing was government overreach, they are not our parents, let everyone decide for themselves.
