Customs and Border Control has said it is working with key government agencies, including police, to defuse what it termed a “tense situation” at the Immigration Detention Centre.

CBC, in a short statement Wednesday night, said the situation arose earlier in the evening with the Cuban migrants being housed at the detention centre.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the migrants clashed with security officials.

CBC said it is working with the prison service and public health, along with the police service, to get the situation under control.

Further updates, it said, will be issued as they become available.
