The work of scores of local artists was on display at more than 50 pop-up events, exhibitions and open studios across the Cayman Islands during Cayman Art Week, which ran from 22-26 June.

Each day, the event focused on a different area, with CAW West (West Bay and Seven Mile Beach), CAW Central, and CAW East, and buses brought art lovers to the various venues across the districts.

Cayman Art Week was launched last year as a means to connect artists and galleries directly with art collectors and customers, National Gallery Director Natalie Urquhart explained.

She said the annual event aims to “introduce new audiences and to welcome back longtime supporters to Cayman’s art scene, so it was exciting to see so many returning as well as new faces at CAW events this year”.

She added, “We are grateful to all who came out to support the galleries and artists, and hope we will see this momentum continue as we start planning for CAW23 – providing a platform for artists and gallery owners to connect directly with collectors and art lovers.”

Lead partners in the art week were Susan A. Olde, the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage, Provenance Properties Cayman Islands, George Town Revitalisation, National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, and the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism.
