A Cayman delegation of local beauties is off to Orlando this weekend to compete in the annual International Girl Pageant.
The contest, which runs from July 23-30, will see local delegates represent Cayman on the international pageant stage.
Cayman International Girl Pageant director Evana Martinez expressed excitement ahead of the event.
“I am just so very grateful for this community, the people of the Cayman Islands. I am always saying how awesome they are. We have gotten so much support. CIGP has been around since 2015 and here we are, many years later, making strides in the community, bringing home international crowns for the Cayman Islands and our girls are ready to go once more.
There has been a lot of practicing, lots of fundraisers to make sure that they can go and represent our islands to the best of their abilities,” she said in an emailed comment to the Cayman Compass Wednesday evening.
The International Girl Pageant, she said, is a youth development programme with over 50 years of history worldwide and has been operating in the Cayman Islands since 2014 with the 8th annual pageant held at the Harquail Theatre on 14 May.
Cayman’s International Girl, she said, focuses on character building, etiquette training, public speaking, communication/interview skills, and community service, providing inspiration and ambition to participants.
“We are so very proud of them and we wish them the best. We’re just excited and we know they will come home with so many awards but besides all that, the experience and opportunity that this program offers to them is more than any crown or title they could win and is something they cherish forever,” Martinez added.
