There is ‘tickling the ivories’ and then there is a display of world-class musical talent, creating magic through the piano.
The Cayman Arts Festival, as ever, is continuing its commitment to bringing international performers of the highest calibre to the Cayman Islands, both to delight local fans and to work with up-and-coming stars of the Cayman Arts Festival Programme. It is therefore presenting three nights of incomparable piano music as part of the Cayman Piano Festival 2022.

First Baptist Church (920 Crewe Road)
The Vendome Prize aims to seek out, reward, support, and guide future professional artists who are technically perfect, magnetic, original, in possession of a large repertoire and ready to undertake the challenges of a performing career. Throughout the years they have built an enviable reputation of discovering extraordinary talent and bringing it to the attention of the music world.
Cayman Arts Festival has established a partnership with the Vendome Prize competition, and is honoured to showcase the winners of this year’s competition: Korkmaz Can Saglam (Turkey) and Maxim Lando (USA).
The managing director of the Vendome Prize, Romanian pianist Matei Varga, will also be present in Cayman.
The three guests will hold a special concert together as an interactive piano performance, featuring two pianos with some individual and combined pieces, followed by a panel discussion.
Asiya Korepanova Recital
Thursday, 20 Oct. @ 6pm
Westin resort ballroom
As the only pianist currently performing Liszt’s 24 Etudes as a single programme and one of few to boast a concerto list that features over 60 works, Asiya Korepanova is a pianistic powerhouse and rapidly rising star. A result of her uncompromising dedication to the arts, Korepanova is recognized not only for her achievements as a pianist, but also for her work as a transcriber, composer, visual artist, and poet.
Uninhibited in her artistic expression, Korepanova’s communicative desires have culminated in several projects featuring original poetry and visual art that serve as an interpretive commentary to a particular cycle of works for the piano.
In 2012, she moved from Russia to the United States at the invitation of renowned pianist, Santiago Rodriguez. Later that year, she was awarded the gold medal at the Nina Wideman International Piano Competition, an accolade which proved invaluable in the establishment of her career in the US.
Glen Inanga and Guests
