Miss Cayman Islands Universe assault trial begins next week

The assault trial of reigning Miss Cayman Islands Universe Tiffany Conolly is set to commence on Monday, 17 Oct.

Connolly, 24, of West Bay faces two counts of common assault, two counts of damage to property, two counts of assaulting a police officer, and one count of disorderly conduct. She has denied all the charges.

During the single-day trial, the prosecution is expected to call multiple witnesses, making it unlikely that the trial will be completed during the slated seven hours. It is not clear when the trial will resume and conclude, if it is not completed on Monday.

In a statement released last month, the Miss Cayman Islands Universe Committee said Conolly had been suspended from making any public appearances in her capacity as the reigning queen, until the criminal proceedings were completed.
