[Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, October 2022] — Nova has completed its application process for their third annual ‘Love Your Future’ Scholarship. Their scholarship offered $3,000 to a student who impressed the Nova team with their passion for their career and to develop themselves through further education and training.

This year’s recipient is Caymanian student Reon Porter, who is looking to achieve his career goal of becoming a commercial airline pilot. Reon is pursuing his Bachelors in Aeronautical Science with flight at the Florida Institute of Technology. His story truly inspired the Nova team; Reon is a passionate and extremely driven individual, having already proved himself in the Cayman Islands and Commonwealth Youth Parliaments, representing his home country in Australia and Rwanda. His love for the sky and flying was evident in his scholarship application as he reflected on how important it was to him to achieve his dream of becoming a commercial pilot and becoming the first in his family to attend university. In addition to his studies and flying daily, he also speaks enthusiastically about his participation as an ambassador for the Caribbean Climate Change Justice Project on behalf of the Cayman Islands.

Everyone at Nova is so excited for his future and to be supporting such a bright star in our community. Ambrose Guilfoyle of Nova said, “As a recruitment team, we meet with talented candidates who are keen to progress their careers and qualifications, but at times have been restrained by the expense of furthering their education. Through recruitment services, career advice and online training, our aim is to help Caymanians advance on their career path. The scholarship is another way in which we hope we can assist someone’s progress and achieve their long-term goals.

The ‘Love Your Future’ scholarship selection process focused on the areas we know are vital to a successful career – ambition, passion, integrity, work ethic and self-reliance. Reon was an excellent example of all these attributes; from his application video to the final interview, he was proactive and conscientious in every aspect. He impressed us with his motivation, planning and determination to succeed in his exciting career path. We are delighted to share this journey with him.”

Nova Recruitment offers a CI$3000 scholarship annually to support a Caymanian student through their education or professional qualification. Their scholarship is open to any course of study that allows the student to pursue a career they love. To find out more, visit https://www.nova.ky/scholarship/
