Jarvis holds his own in Bermuda pro event

Aaron Jarvis will be looking for a repeat of his Latin American golf glory in Argentina.

Cayman’s Aaron Jarvis narrowly missed the cut in the third professional tournament of his budding career in Bermuda last weekend.

The 19-year-old college golfer, who was invited to participate in the PGA Butterfield Bermuda Championships at Port Royal, shot three-under-par over two rounds at the scenic oceanside course.

Jarvis was well set on four-under-par after day one, but struggled as the wind blew on the second day, carding one-over.

That wasn’t quite enough to take him to the latter stages of the event, eventually won by Ireland’s Seamus Power.

Jarvis was able to add former Open winner Jon Daley, who finished towards the back of the field on five-over-par, to his list of heavyweight scalps for the year.

“Overall it was a good week, I had a blast from the start, learned so much from playing with pros and felt good being on an island again,” Jarvis said.

“I got some confidence from the event and a lot to take forward into my offseason and into the new year.”

Jarvis next competes at the South Beach International Amateur tournament in Miami in December.
