Australian actor Chris Hemsworth is probably best known in his repeat roles as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

Never one to shy away from pumping up his muscles, Hemsworth often follows a brutal workout routine, but in a new documentary series – ‘Limitless‘ – just released on Disney Plus, he pushes himself to extremes. The goal is to “master different ways to hack his body in order to slow the ageing process and improve his health in later life”.

Oscar-nominated director Darren Aronofsky is an executive producer of the six-episode season, which takes Hemsworth from a terrifying crane walk hundreds of feet in the air, to an Arctic swim in near-frozen waters.

Experts monitored him at all times, and put him through his paces. One of those experts was Caymanian world record-breaking free diver Tanya Streeter, who features in episode three, titled ‘Fasting’. She teaches him breathing techniques for free diving, and how to improve his breath-holding skills. Considering the fact that Streeter can hold hers for approximately six minutes, Hemsworth’s first attempt, which comes in around 20 seconds, shows just how extraordinary Streeter’s gift is.

‘Limitless’ is a National Geographic production, and should appeal to anyone who appreciates breathtaking scenery and cinematography. Plus, of course, it’s great to see Streeter in such a high-profile, well-received series.

Said one critic, “Limitless is a crisply edited and stunningly photographed odyssey that informs and inspires, even makes you like Hemsworth all the more.”
