In case you thought last weekend was it for Pirates Week, know that there is still plenty of ‘paaaaarhtying’ happening in the next few days, so keep your boots on, me hearties, until the fair sun sets on 20 Nov.
Here are the events on the calendar:
Pirates Fest 5K Run/Walk
Friday, 18 Nov.
Seafarers Way @ 5:30pm
Join in the 2022 Pirates Week 5K Run/Walk. Awards for the top three male and female participants in each age group category. (Dogs and strollers welcome). On-the-day registration is happening from 3:30-5pm in front of Bar Crudo on the waterfront. Entry fee is $25.
Course: Start and finish in front of the South Terminal. Move south on Seafarers Way to South Church Street to turnaround point and return. Electronic chip timing by Race Caribbean will provide accurate times.
Pirate Pooch Parade
Saturday, 19 Nov.
Seafarers Way @ 10-11:30am
Pooches and their pet parents get dressed up to parade around town. The annual Pirate Pooch Parade will be hosted during the Pirates Week Festival in celebration of our furry four-legged friends. This event was designed with the purpose of raising funds for the Cayman Islands Humane Society and One Dog at a Time.
No charge for canines but there is a $25 fee for pet parents.
Register your Pirate Pooch and compete for prizes for best duo, best costume and biggest personality and best trick. Registration at 10:30am on Seafarers Way; parade begins at 11am. Register online here.
Trial of the Pyrates
Saturday, 19 Nov.
National Museum of the Cayman Islands @ 5:30pm
Join the magistrate who has been summoned to the steps of Cayman’s original Court House (National Museum steps) to preside over the trial of the Pirate Crewes. Wielding his quill and ink, the fate of the loveable rogues lies in his hands. Will the gavel seal their fate on island, or will they be banished back out to sea for another year? Live music, DJ ’til late and drink specials to wet your whistle. Pirate attire encouraged with a bit of swash and a dash of the buckling! See you thhhaaaarrrr!
Finale Fireworks Show
Saturday, 19 Nov.
Seafarers Way @ 8-8:15pm
Get the family to the waterfront for the incredible Pirates Week finale firework display that lights up the harbour every year. It’s a truly spectacular show guaranteed to impress all ages and always features an extravaganza of light, colour, and sound – it’s the best way of ending the main festival events and opening the District Heritage Days.
‘Teen Up’ Street Dance
Saturday, 19 Nov.
Goring Ave. @ 8:30-10pm
The Pirates Fest Committee hosts the dance, which is a drug-free environment reserved for teens (13-17 years) only.
This annual event has been a part of the festival calendar for many years. It is primarily offered as a positive and alternative venue for youth to celebrate their national festival and have a good time without drugs and alcohol. Sponsored by Pepsi, the dance is free entrance with food and drinks on sale.
Pirates Against Plastic Beach Cleanup
Sunday, 20 Nov.
Beach at Safehaven @ 8-10am
Plastic Free Cayman is once again parlaying with the Pirates to have a beach cleanup along the south coast. All residents are welcome. Anyone of any age and any skill level can get involved.
Some clean-up tools are supplied; however, you should bring gloves. And don’t forget to bring a reusable water container. Snacks and ice water available. Register at [email protected].
Underwater Treasure Hunt
Sunday, 20 Nov.
Sunset Divers at Sunset House @ 1-4pm
Set off on a fantastic underwater treasure hunt to find buried treasure and, while you’re at it, dive deep in the pristine waters of the Cayman Islands. Entrance fee is only $25 and includes tanks, weights, snorkel gear and light refreshments, with spot prizes donated by local businesses and the Pirates Week Festival Office.
Sunset House donates all tanks and time to host the event. No reservations are needed. See you there at 1pm sharp.
Be aware of road closures, which may cause traffic delays.

What a flipping mess. Cardinall Ave is still, 9 months now, no where nearing completion. Harbour Drive (aka Seafarers) closed, and every person on this Island forced to spend hours in bumper to bumper traffic for an event not even listed on the Pirates Week website. This is and was a disgrace.
