Lean On Me Foundation Cayman has teamed up with Miss Cayman Islands Universe organisers to deliver groceries to families in need of assistance in Cayman Brac.

In a brief statement from Lean On Me founder Derri Dacres-Lee, who is also the chairperson of the Miss Cayman Islands Universe committee, told the Cayman Compass eight families were referred to them by the Department of Children and Family Services.

“We have been delivering groceries and food vouchers to families in need during the Christmas season for many years,” said Dacres-Lee, who helped found the charity in 2006.

This year, first and second runner-ups of the Miss Cayman Islands Universe Pageant, Chloe Powery-Doxey and Hayley Grizzel assisted with the purchasing and delivery of the groceries over the weekend.

“Each year we want to make someone’s Christmas brighter. This year we decided to assist families in need on the Brac,” Dacres-Lee added.

She said this year’s donations were made possible through the support of Cayman National Bank, and Billy’s and Kirkconnell’s supermarkets on the Brac.
