For the first time ever, the Clifton Hunter High School under 18 boys football team was crowned the Appleby high school league champions.

The young men of Clifton Hunter defeated Triple C 2-0 earlier this month at the Cayman Islands Football Association field to cap an unbeaten season with their first Appleby U18 football championship.

In his first year as the CHHS U18 boys football coach, Oral Wiltshire told the Cayman Compass that he was happy to be a part of history.

“First, I want to give God thanks for such an awesome year,” Wiltshire said. “As a coach, I always have standards and I set the bar high. We played seven games undefeated and I’m glad that I was a part of that. The boys adjusted well, and we became victorious in the end.”

The U18 boys’ historic win comes on the heels of their younger schoolmates winning both the girls and boys Dart under 13 football league titles in October.

Wiltshire, who is also a player-coach on Alliance SC, said he is looking forward to seeing Clifton Hunter repeat its success next year.

“For me, coming to Clifton has been a milestone,” he said. “I am looking forward to 2023.”
