Three people were taken to hospital Thursday afternoon after their rental car collided with a dump truck in George Town.

The trio had to be extricated from the vehicle but, police said, the individuals appeared to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

One of the occupants did, however, suffered a laceration to the head.

The incident occurred just after 12:10pm Thursday at the Lawrence Boulevard and the Esterley Tibbetts Highway roundabout.

Police said the vehicle and the dump truck were both travelling north along Esterley Tibbetts when they collided at the second exit going north.

The Cayman Islands Fire Service responded the scene and assisted with extricating the three occupants from the rental vehicle.

All three were transported to the hospital by ambulance.

No other parties reported injuries and no other properties appear to have been damaged, police said.

The incident is being investigated by the police and anyone with information is asked to call the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit at 649-6254 or the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.
