Starting this Easter, Cayman Airways will be flying non-stop to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the national flag carrier has announced.

It will also add the route for summer holidays from 23 June 2023 through 8 Sept. 2023, CAL said in a statement issued Tuesday afternoon.

Flights once a week

The airline released the schedule of the upcoming flights for Easter, which will run on Good Friday with a return on Easter Monday.

Over Easter, flight KX2612 will depart Grand Cayman on Friday, 7 April 2023 at 7:35am and arrive in Montego Bay at 8:35am.

Then flight KX2613 will depart Montego Bay at 9:35am and arrive in Grand Cayman at 10:30am.

On Monday, 10 April, flight KX2616 will depart Grand Cayman at 5:10pm and arrive in Montego Bay at 6:10pm.

Flight KX2617 will depart Montego Bay at 7:10pm and arrive back in Grand Cayman at 8:05pm.

In the summer schedule, a weekly Friday flight, KX2612, will depart Grand Cayman at 7:35am and arrive in Montego Bay at 8:35am.

Then flight KX2613 will depart Montego Bay at 9:35am and arrive back in Grand Cayman at 10:30am.

This latest announcement of an expanded schedule follows CEO Fabian Whorms’s statement last week that the national flag carrier is looking to add new routes to its winter and summer roster.

However, Whorms, who made the announcement on the Cayman Compass talkshow ‘The Resh Hour’, did not release the names of the destinations, saying that discussions are ongoing.

Changes to rules

As the airline opens bookings for the additional route, it is advising that due to changes in Jamaican security policies affecting all airports in that country, including Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, passengers are required to deplane during mandatory security checks.

“This policy rendered impractical the previous arrangement of a combined Montego Bay/Kingston flight whereby passengers continuing on to another stop in Jamaica could remain onboard. In response, the airline has instead offered seasonal and ad-hoc service, while actively exploring various solutions to address the issue,” the airline said.

Passengers can book tickets online at www.caymanairways.com or contact the Cayman Airways Reservations Call Center which operates seven days a week from 7am to 8pm on (345) 949-2311 (in the Cayman Islands) or (866) 759-1372 (toll free in Jamaica).

It added that bookings can also be made at the Cayman Airways ticket office on 91 Owen Roberts Drive on Grand Cayman, from 8:30am-5:30pm Monday through Friday, and from 8:30am-4:30pm on Saturdays.

The ticket office on Cayman Brac near the Charles Kirkconnell International Airport is open from 9am-5pm Monday through Friday, and is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
