Police have arrested the driver involved in Tuesday’s hit-and-run collision that claimed the life of one cyclist and left another with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
In a statement released this afternoon, police said the driver of a Chevrolet Blazer fled the scene after striking both cyclists along Frank Sound Road, North Side, in the vicinity of Botanic Road, shortly after 9:30pm.
“The man, age 47 of North Side, has been arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident and causing death by careless driving, [and] he remains in custody as investigations continue,” said police in a short statement.
Although police have not identified the victims in the accident, Cayman Compass has confirmed with a family member that it was Daniel McFarlane, of East End, who was fatally injured in the collision.
