The father of five was killed in a collision that took place on Valentine’s Day this year.

The incident happened after 1pm near the intersection of Polack Drive and Heights Road on Cayman Brac, and involved two vehicles.

McLean was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel; a passenger was reportedly uninjured, the RCIPS said after the crash.

The off-duty officer driving the second vehicle was transported to Faith Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

RCIPS accident reconstructionists from the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit in Grand Cayman visited Cayman Brac to assist in the investigation.

McLean’s death was the first road fatality recorded in the Cayman Islands in 2023.
