In April of this year, the Cayman Masonic Children’s Foundation donated $15,000 to the NCVO.
These funds have gone directly towards serving the children that attend our nursery and preschool two meals and a snack every day.
It is well documented that children who eat breakfast tend to eat healthier overall, be more
physically active, and maintain a healthy body weight. Helping children build healthy eating habits, including eating a nutritious breakfast, can build a foundation of eating right for life.
Here at the NCVO we are committed to giving our children the very best start and having a balanced diet is a great first step.
Our in–house cook and assistant work to prepare breakfast, lunch, and a snack for each child every day. We use the best ingredients we can and create a varied meal plan, featuring fresh fruit, whole grain rice and pasta and varied protein options.
The carefully thought–out daily menus provide the children with a minimum of 2 servings of fruit, 1 serving of vegetables, 2–3 servings of grain, 1 serving of dairy and protein from meat and/or legumes.
The annual cost to the NCVO is $91,000 and as one of Cayman’s longest running nonprofit
organisations a donation of $15,000 goes a long way.
Delores Thompson, Preschool Director said “We are consistently in awe of the Cayman community and people’s ability to find ways to support what we do, the donation from the Cayman Masonic Children’s Foundation has already helped so much, and we are incredibly grateful.”
David Pellow, from the Cayman Masonic Children’s Foundation, “We created this foundation in 2009 with the intent of providing a collective body of and for Freemasons in the Cayman Islands to provide meaningful support of the youth in our community, we believe that the work the NCVO does aligns with that and we are committed to helping them achieve their goals.”
The NCVO was founded in 1974 and is dedicated to the care, education and well–being of the children and families in need of support in the Cayman Islands.
