After two months of matches, the inaugural Appleby Corporate Pickleball League wrapped up on 18 Nov., crowning team ‘Level 5 Finishes’ as the Division A1 champions.

The new league, which featured over 2,500 games played by 72 teams since the launch in early September, saw nine divisional winners including Level 5 Finishes.

“Congratulations to Level 5 Finishes, our overall champions who, after accepting the winner’s trophy, then gave the pros from Pickleball Cayman a scare in the exhibition match, drawing 3-3,” Jerry Beck, owner of Pickleball Cayman, said in a press release.

Beck noted that the league has brought hundreds of players from all across Cayman into the sport, fostering friendships within workplaces as well as new connections across companies.

Seven Fathoms were the runners up for the A1 division. The other divisional winners were Highvern’s Heavy Drinkers, A2; Century 21, B1; KPMG, B2; BCQS, B3; and Alvarez & Marsal, B4.

Noting the number of teams that played at varying levels of ability, Norman Klein, managing partner of sponsor Appleby (Cayman) said, “it’s encouraging to see this sport’s continued popularity and growth having such a positive impact on our local community”.

The league will resume play in January.
