
After five days of pickleball action at the 2026 Caribbean Pickleball Championships, Cayman returns home with numerous victories.
During the event, which took place at WER Joell Tennis Stadium in Pembroke, Bermuda, from 17-21 March, athletes from across the region came face to face for the dual tournament – the Rally on the Rock and the Caribbean Championship Cup.
The championships featured participating nations including the host nation Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Antigua and Barbuda, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, alongside invited federations from Aruba, the Bahamas, Barbados, Bonaire, and the Dominican Republic.
The Cayman Open Team was led by captain Elena Testori and included Anita Warhurst, Yaniv Semo, and Steve Thompson while the Senior Team featured captain David Allott, Munir Ali, Ermanno Scerrati, Claire Hughes, Claire Roscoe and Pam Robinson.
Rally on the Rock
In the Rally on the Rock individual and doubles events, the Cayman Islands secured several podium finishes.
On 17 March, Jennie Royert and Robinson won gold in the Women’s Doubles 4.0 (Open, 50+) with a decisive 11-5, 11-4 victory while Testori and Warhurst earned silver in the Women’s Doubles 4.5+ (Open).
In the Men’s Singles 5.0+ (Open), Semo exited the competition during the round-robin stage.
Success continued on 18 March as 14-year-old Dylan Royert won gold in the Men’s Singles 3.5 (Open) in his first international appearance.
Warhurst took gold in the Women’s Singles 4.0 (Open) while Testori also secured gold in the Women’s Singles 4.5 (Open).
In the Men’s Doubles 4.5 (50+), Allott and Ali earned both a gold medal in the 50+ division and a silver in the Open division after the groups were combined.
Thompson and Semo claimed gold in the 5.0 Men’s Open Doubles while Ash Gunning and Scerrati took bronze in the Men’s Doubles 4.0 (50+).
Mixed doubles play on 19 March resulted in further hardware for the Cayman squad.
Jennie Royert and Ashley Gunning won gold in the 4.0 Mixed Open Doubles.
In the 50+ age groups, Ali and Roscoe took gold in the 4.5 division, while Scerrati and Robinson won gold in the 4.0 division.
Allott and Hughes took bronze in the 4.0 mixed doubles 50+ category.
Caribbean Championship Cup
The Caribbean Championship Cup team event commenced on 20 March with a format consisting of Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles, two Mixed Doubles matches, and both Men’s and Women’s Singles.
A victory required winning four of the six games, with a 3-3 deadlock determined through a rotating singles Final Battle – a rally-scoring singles game played to 21 points (win by two).
In the Open Division semi-finals, Cayman defeated Jamaica following a Final Battle. Despite fatigue from a limited four-person roster, the Cayman squad advanced to the final.
The final day of competition on 21 March was impacted by heavy rain and outdoor court delays.
In the Open Division final, Bermuda defeated the Cayman Islands with a 4-0 sweep to retain the title.
However, the Cayman Islands Senior Team found success in their championship matchup, defeating Bermuda to win the Caribbean Championship Cup in the Senior division.
