McKeeva Bush is back in an official government role and formally part of Juliana O’Connor-Connolly’s new United People’s Movement administration after being appointed as one of three new parliamentary secretaries this week.

Bush’s appointment comes amid ongoing legal woes, including a looming trial on indecent and common assault charges – allegations he denies.

The West Bay West MP’s resignation from the previous administration, led to deadlock in the House and the collapse of the previous PACT government.

Now, Bush is back and will serve as parliamentary secretary to Dwayne Seymour, Minister for Border Control and Culture, and to Jay Ebanks, Minister of Planning, Housing, Infrastructure, Transport and Development.

In a government press release, he said: “There is much work to do.  I’ve made it clear to the premier and the ministers, that for me this is about supporting both ministers in their important work.

“My sole focus will be on the projects assigned to me as a parliamentary secretary.”

Bernie Bush and Heather Bodden have also been appointed as parliamentary secretaries.

They will support various Cabinet ministers in their duties, represent them in parliamentary debates, and handle certain tasks on their behalf.

They each received their instruments of appointment from Governor Jane Owen during a brief presentation ceremony at Government House on Wednesday, 5 Dec.

Premier Juliana O’Connor-Connolly had advised the governor to make the appointments.

She said: “These appointments demonstrate that the UPM is united by the philosophy of all hands-on deck.

“We want to tap into the wealth of knowledge of all members of our team to ensure we can achieve all of our priorities and key initiatives this term.”

“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue the work I started and to build on the strong relationships I enjoy with both teams.”
