Three Cayman swimmers will dare to be great in Doha, Qatar next month, as they represent their country at the 21st World Aquatics Championships (long course).

James Allison, Jillian Crooks and Harper Barrowman will take on the world’s top swimmers from 11-17 Feb., with hopes of producing personal bests or qualifying times for major meets, including the Summer Olympics.

Both Crooks and Barrowman will make their second appearance at the World Aquatics Championships, having swam during last year’s World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.

Notably, Crooks, 17, has the potential to hit the B-cut Olympic time of 24.82 seconds, if she is able to shave .84 seconds off her best time of 25.66 in the women’s 50-metre freestyle.

Crooks will compete in two other events in Doha – the 100m free and the 100m backstroke, with entry times of 55.18 and 1:02.10, respectively.

Barrowman will begin competition for Cayman on 11 Feb., in the 400m, followed by Crooks on 12 Feb. in the 100m back, and then Allison later that day in the 200m free. Barrowman will return to the pool on the 13 Feb. for the 200m free and the next day Allison will swim the 100m free.

Crooks will close the competition for the team, swimming the 100m free on 15 Feb., and then the 50m free two days later.
