Four Caymanian track athletes competed at the Tom Jones Invitational, in Gainesville, Florida, held 12-13 April, collecting three top places among them.
Jaden Francis, Rasheem Brown, Davonte Howell and Jaiden Reid all took to the Percy Beard track. Reid, of Louisiana State University, clocked 10.35 seconds in his 100-metre heat, taking first place. He then earned another first in the 200m heat, after a 21.15 effort.
Two-time CARIFTA 100-metre gold medallist Howell, also took first in his 100m heat in 10.39 seconds, before taking second in the 4×100 relay with his three University of Tennessee teammates, in a time of 39.09.
Francis of Florida State hit the track for the 800m heat, where she ran 2:10.81 – 0.7 off her personal best she set a week prior and good enough for sixth place.
Brown also took sixth place at his 110m hurdles event. He clocked in at 13.79.
