
Police have named the three people killed in a car crash that occurred early Monday morning.
The collision, which involved five vehicles, took place on Shamrock Road, near Coral Bay Village. Police sought the public’s assistance in identifying the three people who died, who are now confirmed to be Shakara Stewart, 41; Junior Whittaker, 30; and Vinroy ‘Fletcher’ Grant, 53.
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service said all three were Jamaican nationals who were working and living in the Cayman Islands. Family and friends of Stewart participated in a candlelight vigil in her memory Thursday evening.
Investigation
The three people killed were all in the same car. Two other people in the crash were hospitalised.
Police declared the collision a “major incident” that the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit is investigating.
