Cayman Airways is expected to resume flights to the Golosón International Airport in La Ceiba, Honduras on Tuesday, pending conditions at the airport.
The national flag carrier was forced on Friday to cancel its La Ceiba flights due to reduced visibility at Golosón International Airport, caused by smoke from regional forest fires and air pollution.
A Cayman Airways spokesperson confirmed Monday afternoon that KX3882 is scheduled to depart the Owen Roberts International Airport at 7am Tuesday for arrival in La Ceiba at 7:35am.
Following that, flight KX3883 is set to depart La Ceiba at 8:20am and arrive at ORIA at 10:40am.
Several Honduran airports have experienced problems due to low visibility created by smoke throughout the month.
The Honduran civil aeronautics agency, AHAC, reported on Monday that visibility conditions were expected to be “intermittent” in the coming days at Golosón airport, Juan Manuel Gálvez airport in Roatan and Ramon Villeda Morales in La Lima. Other Honduran airports in Tegucigalpa and Comayagua have also experienced smoke disruptions
