Cayman Airways says it is amending its flight schedule today and tomorrow (Thursday and Friday, 23 and 24 May) after it was forced to remove one of its aircraft from service for “unscheduled maintenance”.
To operate the return flight this evening between Miami and Grand Cayman, the airline has contracted a different airline to transport passengers.
The Miami to Grand Cayman KX107 flight at 8:40pm and the Grand Cayman to Miami KX106 flight at 10:20pm will be operated by World Atlantic Airways, according to a public service announcement issued by Cayman Airways this afternoon.
And a flight to Cuba – KX834 – today has been cancelled and is expected to operate tomorrow instead.
The airline said it was “working on minimizing further disruptions over the next few days by way of schedule consolidations and contracting with other service providers”.
It added, “Our priority at this time is accommodating the travel needs of affected passengers, who are being contacted directly by email and by our reservations team with updates.”
It apologised to customers for any inconveniences, adding that affected passengers would be accommodated with overnight room and board at their destinations, where necessary.
This latest issue follows a series of cancellations of flights to La Ceiba, Honduras, in recent days after Goloson International Airport was closed due to smoke from forest fires and air pollution.
