Students from Musicians Ltd performing arts school have taken their love for singing, dancing and acting to the Harquail Theatre stage. The performers showcased a fusion of seven popular musicals for their 13th annual production, ‘Encore!’, held on 15-16 June.
During the nearly two-hour show, high school students revisited previous drama productions and explored themes of friendship and teamwork through familiar musical tunes. They also touched on the importance of performing arts and how drama programmes build character.
The three-part production saw the young performers delight audience members with a jukebox-style performance and favourites from ‘Shrek’, ‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘and ‘Matilda’.
“It’s been really lovely, and it’s been quite a unique production this time, so we’ve been able to single out lots of children, which has been special,” Janine Stabler, director of Musicians Ltd, told the Cayman Compass.
“It’s been [a] military operation,” Stabler said about preparing the students, ages 6 to 16, from across Cayman’s public and private schools.
The students have been rehearsing during weekly practices all year, Stabler noted.
“It’s been great. The children have been fantastic. We’ve had really successful rehearsals and [are] pleased with the results. It’s been rewarding and lovely to give them each a chance to shine,” Stabler said.
The school is now preparing to hold auditions for its next production, ‘Frozen JR.’ Visit www.musicians.ky for more.
