A seven-member jury panel has been selected in the case against West Bay West MP McKeeva Bush who is due to stand trial for an allegation of rape.
The allegations stem from an incident that dates back more than 20 years and has led to Bush being charged with one count each of rape and indecent assault.
He denies the allegations.
The veteran politician was due to stand trial on Monday, 24 June, after his attorneys lost an application to defer the matter until 5 July.
However, on Monday, the trial was unable to proceed due to legal reasons, which the Cayman Compass is restricted from publishing.
The legal delays, which continued into Tuesday and Wednesday, were eventually overcome on Thursday, thereby allowing a jury to be selected.
In addition to the seven main jurors, an additional three alternates were selected. However, no other progress could be made Thursday, and jurors were sent home with instructions to return for the opening on Tuesday, 2 July at noon.
Bush remains on bail while the matter continues.
