1st August 2024: Consilium, the international (re)insurance broker, part of the USD 1.5bn Aventum Group, has today announced the appointment of Basil Montieth as Senior Partner for its Cayman office.
Basil is the third senior appointment that Consilium has made in Cayman this year as it expands its presence in the region. Basil joins from Bogle Insurance Brokers in Cayman where he was Head of Commercial Lines for the past 15 years. He joins Consilium with decades of P&C experience in the Jamaican, Cayman and Canadian markets. He has a strong technical background with particular expertise in Property and Liability lines.
Basil joins Rori-Leigh Mighty, appointed Partner in Cayman in June, and Yaremis Hydes, Managing Partner for Consilium Cayman, who also joined the business from Aon in June.

Consilium secured its license in Cayman in 2023. Since then it has appointed a strong local team to lead the operation, working closely with the team in London to deliver ‘one Consilium’ – an aligned service that puts Cayman clients’ interests first. It provides direct access to the local insurance market but also to the London and European Insurance markets for much needed additional capacity. Consilium’s focus in the region is providing insurance solutions in the financial and professional lines, construction, residential and commercial property sectors, as well as group medical and ancillary benefits.

Consilium is a fast-growing global broker. It is licensed across most of the world’s financial centres and offshore jurisdictions including Guernsey, Jersey and Cayman. It has seen an 85% increase in headcount since June 2022 with further recruitment planned this year. It currently controls $600m GWP and is on target to reach USD 1.4bn GWP by 2026.
