A Grand Court jury on Monday found Andre Delroy Campbell not guilty of possession of an imitation firearm.
Campbell had been accused of holding a gun during an argument in the car park of Vic’s Bar in George Town late at night on 13 Aug. last year.
During his police interview, following his arrest, he told police he did not have a gun, but instead was holding his cellphone at waist level to imply he might have a weapon because he was feeling threatened by a couple who confronted him that night.
A jury of five women and two men on Monday afternoon returned a unanimous verdict of not guilty.
The altercation had stemmed from an unproven allegation that Campbell had pocketed money from a fish fry that had been held the day before.
