More than 30 of Cayman’s most talented performers are set to take centre stage at Harquail Theatre next month to showcase Oscar and Grammy-winning hits in support of palliative and hospice care in Cayman.

This year’s ‘Spotlight on Hollywood’ showcase, being held in November, is the sixth production in support of Jasmine, Cayman’s only provider of free palliative and hospice care, which provides support to people with serious illness.

‘More than a show’

Production Manager Kerrie McMillan told the Cayman Compass, “Audiences want to be entertained and musical productions are always very popular.”

“The selection of music plays a huge role in the success of any show. Familiarity is key; people relate to music and memories surface. The Jasmine productions have been largely Broadway and with each show the bar has been raised. We want people to talk about the ‘Jasmine Shows’, which, by extension raises community awareness about the amazing work the Jasmine team does,” she added.

Featuring dancers from UCCI and the Singrays a capella group, the production, under the direction of Arek Nicholson and UCCI dance director Monika Lawrence, will “bring together an evening of glitz, fame and iconic music featured in award-winning films,” a press release said.

“But for our cast, it’s more than just a show. Many of them have personally experienced severe illness or know family members and friends who have benefitted from Jasmine’s services. They are performing from the heart, and I couldn’t be prouder of them,” McMillan added.

Shows will be held 8-9 Nov. at 7pm, and 10 Nov. at 5pm. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased on the Eventpro website, or by emailing [email protected].
