Nominations are now open for local honourees to be inducted into the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame.

The hall of fame’s board of directors, along with the Cayman Islands Ministry of Tourism and Department of Tourism, this week announced they are accepting nominations for the 2025 Honouree and 2025 Emerging Honouree categories.

These awards recognise individuals and their contributions to the scuba diving and water sports industry in the Cayman Islands. The selected honourees will be awarded during the annual induction ceremony on 20 Sept.

International inductees were announced earlier this month.

The criteria for submission for local nominees is they must have made a significant contribution by leading or aiding in the areas of water sports and diving in the Cayman Islands through development, promotion, positive environmental impact, dive travel, art, education, exploring or adventure, a press release from the hall of fame noted.

Nominations can be made via an online form on the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame website. The deadline for submissions is 11:59pm on Sunday, 27 April.

The board of directors will review the nominations, and successful honourees will be contacted by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism.
