Woman arrested on suspicion of murder in George Town

Police arrested a 33-year-old woman on suspicion of murder Sunday after a man was killed in the early hours of the morning in George Town.

The body of the victim, named by police as 63-year-old Lincoln Silburn, was found behind the F&J Building on Mary Street, when officers responded to a report of a murder at the location shortly after 4:20am.

The woman was detained by police and remained in custody Sunday afternoon.

Police cordoned off the area while they carried out their investigations. The cordon was removed later in the morning.

In a statement Sunday afternoon, the RCIPS said detectives were investigating the matter, and “as an added precaution, the community can expect to see increased police presence, including patrols in the vicinity”.

Investigators are encouraging witnesses to come forward and assist with the investigation.
