As the global digital landscape is constantly evolving, so too must educational offerings within the field.
As such, University College of the Cayman Islands and Enterprise Cayman have collaborated to provide the Digital Skills Certificate Programme, which began at the end of 2024.
Through this course, Caymanians learn critical digital skills which will make them ready for the workforce or will improve on the skills of those currently employed.
For those who wish to pursue further study after the programme, the certificate offers 10 transferable credits that can be applied toward UCCI’s computer science degree programme.
The course is supported by experienced mentors with access to teaching assistants and is delivered online, making it a flexible, self-paced learning experience, allowing participants to progress at their own speed.
“This collaboration marks a significant step towards addressing the national IT skills gap and will be a game changer for Caymanians,” says Dr. Robert W. Robertson, president, and CEO of UCCI.
“Companies in the Cayman Islands have identified technical skills as critical for employment both today and in the future. Enterprise Cayman and UCCI reiterated their commitment to be part of the solution to addressing the national IT skills gap.”
Charlie Kirkconnell, chairman of Enterprise Cayman and CEO of Cayman Enterprise City, noted the programme’s contribution to the economy.

“By developing industry-certified professionals, we’re not only preparing individuals to make meaningful contributions but also driving innovation and diversifying the future of our economy.”
