A driver arrested following a hit-and-run involving two pedestrians on Saturday was found to be three times over the legal drink-driving limit.

The collision between a Honda Fit and the pedestrians happened shortly before 1:40am on North Sound Road, police said in a statement on Sunday.

“It was reported that the pedestrians were walking in the vicinity of Seymour Drive, when the Honda left the roadway and collided with a post and then struck the pedestrians. The vehicle then left the location,” the RCIPS said.

Police noted that the Emergency Medical Services attended the scene and provided medical attention to the pedestrians, who had received minor injuries.

Shortly afterwards, the Honda Fit was located by police and the driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and other traffic offenses.
