Global fashion brand H&M Home this week launched a collaboration with Grand Cayman’s beachfront boutique hotel, Palm Heights, offering a range of luxury items that reflect the hotel’s “energy, style and sense of escapism”.
The 23-piece collection features “cotton beach towels and robes in graphic yellow, white and earthy brown with white stripes and checkered trims, inspired by the beachside resort’s emblematic design and colour palette”, according to an H&M statement sent to the Cayman Compass.
Evelina Kravaev-Söderberg, H&M Home’s head of design and creative, said the Palm Heights x H&M Home collection marries “their approach to creating affordable, modern design – inspiring interior enthusiasts all over the world to create personal and stylish places”.
“We are very excited about the hospitality industry lifestyle, especially at this time of the year when we need a little inspiration for the summer period. We follow certain design hotels and are intrigued by the creative personalities behind these projects,” Kravaev-Söderberg said.
“Palm Heights hotel and the ambience they have created there is intriguing. There are such strong aesthetics, and it is energetic and modern, a bit retro 70s, but very contemporary,”
New York-based creative director Gabriella Khalil, Palm Heights founder and designer, said working with H&M Home has been great.
“They’re a fantastic, forward-thinking team, and I enjoyed it,” she said.
Among the “hallmark pieces” in the collection that reflects aspects of the Cayman Islands are eclectic interior design components, including an array of teal, sandstone ceramic vases, bowls and candle holders, as well as handwoven objects, like a chic, decorative basket for storing small objects and an elegant, handheld fan.
The collection also features a coloured glass pitcher and tumblers, as well as new product types for H&M Home, like a beach tennis kit and a wooden backgammon set.
“I hope people feel the beginning of summer: the joyfulness, the sunshine and an elegant simplicity,” Khalil said, adding, “It’s not overdone. There can be a relaxing, beautiful moment in your bathroom wearing your robe, or using the glassware when people come over. And if it’s a mix of that, that would be my ideal for people to take away from the collection.”
Kravaev-Söderberg added, “The hospitality industry has evolved so much, and it mirrors society in a way: what we need and how we want to spend our holidays. In general, I find it interesting as a business. It is also fascinating to see how — because it has so much to do with the environment and interiors. We can connect these two worlds.”
The Palm Heights x H&M Home collection will be launched on 12 June in select stores and online at hm.com/home.
