Two men and a teenager have been charged in connection with three violent robberies in the George Town area in February of this year.

The men, both 34, and a 17-year-old boy have each been hit with three charges of robbery, one count of attempted robbery and one count of wounding.

The trio appeared in court on Tuesday. The two men were remanded in custody and the teenager was released on bail. All three will return to court on 27 Aug.

The charges relate to three robberies – at a barber shop, a convenience store and a residence – that were carried out on Valentine’s Day, 14 Feb.

The barber shop on Eastern Avenue, near School Road, was held up at about 8:20pm, when three men, masked and wielding machetes, demanded cash from staff and customers.

They fled the scene with cash and personal items in a small car.

One victim suffered minor injuries, but did not need hospital treatment.

A convenience store on Prospect Drive was robbed 20 minutes later, when three masked men armed with machetes stole cash from the register and fled.

One man in the store was struck by a machete and treated at the scene by paramedics.

Earlier that evening, an attempted robbery and an attack on a man involving a group of masked men with machetes happened at 7:25pm at a house in on Holmes Turn.

The victim suffered cuts to his hand and arm and was treated at the Anthony S. Eden Hospital in George Town. He was later discharged.

Police said the attackers arrived by car and also ransacked the yard of the house before they left.
