More than 1,500 pounds of ganja was intercepted on board a boat that had illegally entered Cayman waters, the police said on Friday, 15 Aug.
Coast Guard and airborne police officers joined forces for an early-hours interception of the alleged drug-running boat around 2:40am on Thursday.
The Coast Guard spotted the suspect vessel while on a routine patrol and, with support from a police air operations unit helicopter, stopped and searched the boat, which had four people on board.
The boat and crew were later turned over to police for further investigation.
The crew are being held in custody on suspicion of illegal entry to Cayman and possession and importation of controlled drugs.
