Civil servants, seafarers, pensioners and those on long-term financial assistance will get a one-off payment of $500 as a festive thank-you from the coalition government.
Announcing the honorarium in Parliament, premier André Ebanks said, “Throughout the year, the Cayman Islands civil servants and public servants provide the people of this country, as well as persons and institutions overseas who do business here, with incredible service.”
He added that, during the first six months of the new administration in particular, “They have worked hard contributing significantly to the agenda for a stronger fairer Cayman … their professionalism and forward thinking, can-do approach has been a tremendous asset to the NCFC government resulting in strong performance overall.”
Exact details of when and how the $500 will be provided later, said Ebanks, adding, “For our beloved seafarers, pensioners and long-term financial assistance recipients, it is a privilege to boost their Christmas spirit during a time of economic challenges and to help them experience the joy of the holiday season.”
