
The Parliament of the Cayman Islands hosted the 26th National Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast on 22 Jan. at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayamn, bringing together members of Parliament, faith leaders and members of the wider community in a spirit of unity and reflection.
Held under the theme ‘faith, respect and love in serving the common good’, the event provided an opportunity for national leaders and citizens to come together in prayer and reaffirm their shared commitment to service and nation-building.
Opening remarks were delivered by the Ezzard Miller, speaker of Parliament, followed by remarks from Premier André Ebanks.
Speaking on the significance of the occasion, Miller said, “The National Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast serves as a reminder that faith, respect, and love must guide our actions as leaders and citizens. It is through unity and reflection that we strengthen our resolve to serve the Cayman Islands with integrity and compassion.”
The programme led by deputy speaker, Pearlina McGaw-Lumsden, and included performances of the National Anthem and National Song by Jhenelle Colquhoun.
The event brought together scripture readings and prayers from leaders across Parliament, the judiciary, and the Christian community, and complemented by musical selections led by Antonio Sanchez of Elmslie Memorial United Church and solo performances by Kevon Hyre and Anika Jefferson.
The guest speaker, Pastor Garett Haylock of the Church of God at West Bay, delivered a message focused on unity, faith and service to the nation.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from Nickolas DaCosta, minister of District Administration & Home Affairs, and a benediction by Pastor Torrance Bobb of the First Assembly of God Church.
The National Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast remains a longstanding tradition that brings together leaders and communities to reflect on shared values and the responsibility of serving the common good.
