The Cayman National Cultural Foundation has opened applications for theatre grants, the first of several opportunities after the restructuring of its grants programme.

In a press release, the foundation said the restructuring reflects its continued commitment to strengthening the Cayman Islands’ cultural ecosystem by enhancing accessibility, increasing clarity and maximising the strategic impact of its funding programmes.

“The updated framework is designed to better support artists, cultural practitioners and creative organisations, while aligning grant opportunities with national cultural development priorities,” the press release stated.

The first wave of open grants focuses on theatre grants aimed at elevating the performing arts, with particular emphasis on dramatic arts and dance.

Grant opportunities are open to both emerging and established practitioners, ensuring that artists at all career stages have access to opportunities that encourage growth, innovation and professional development.

“The Harquail and Studio Theatres serve as essential platforms for creative expression and the exploration of cultural practices,” the press release stated. “Through performance, communities engage with questions of identity, shared history and social values. CNCF’s theatre grants seek to strengthen these venues as centres of artistic excellence and meaningful cultural dialogue,”

The foundation said that by investing in both talent and infrastructure, it “aims to cultivate a vibrant performing arts sector that enriches cultural life in the Cayman Islands while contributing to sustainable economic activity”.

According to the foundation’s website, the deadline for both the ‘Emerging Theatre Grant’  is 28 Feb. 2026 with the grant being offered in March 2026. The deadline for the Established Theatre Grant is 31 July 2026 with the grant being issued in August 2026.  Full details on eligibility, guidelines and application deadlines are available here.
