More than 450 participants gathered on Seven Mile Beach for the eighth annual Heart Warriors and Angels Beach Walk.
Organised by Team Nolan founders Ailian, Sean, and Ashlyn Evans, the event serves as a primary fundraiser and awareness campaign for congenital heart disease.
The event was established in memory of baby Nolan Evans, who passed away in January 2018 due to a critical congenital heart disease known as truncus arteriosus.
Ailian Evans, mother of Nolan, said, “[After his passing], I was inspired to raise awareness and assist families in the Cayman Islands.”
Full of gratitude for the turnout, she said, “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each participant for supporting this important cause on this beautiful Sunday morning. Your participation helps further the mission of the Cayman Heart Foundation and the Evans Family and makes a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by congenital heart disease.”
Since its inception, Team Nolan and the Cayman Heart Foundation has been dedicated to raising awareness about congenital heart disease, and providing financial and emotional support to families impacted by the disease in the Cayman Islands.
“Our mission is to support these families and offering assistance and hope as they navigate this journey,” Evans said.
Acknowledging the severity of the disease, she said, “Congenital heart disease is the most common birth defect worldwide, yet awareness remains far too low. That is why [this event] matters.”
“Today, we honour our Heart Warriors – the brave children and adults living with congenital heart disease – and the Angels we carry in our hearts. We walk for those still fighting, for families navigating this journey, and for a future where early detection, research, and support are accessible to all,” she said.
