Caymanian author Curtis Barnett has published a new book titled ‘Journey to the Present’.
Barnett, who holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University and was born in the Cayman Islands, has previously authored four books of poetry and short stories, including: ‘Something about Us’, ‘Toes in the Sand’, ‘Mid-Millennial Isles’ and ‘Caymanian Epics’.
Barnett says his latest book includes stories he has written with “real and fictional strands interwoven throughout”, and is “creative, historical, authentic, relevant and actual”.

Some key highlights on the book include:
- Journeying with a young lady in her quest for complete deliverance
- Witnessing what happens when a famous artist gives a special gift to a Caymanian woman
- Stories that throw the spotlight on islanders as they struggle to arrive at crucial decisions that will forever affect their culture and way of life
- Learning how native cultural objects and linguistic attributes intersect with related international traditions and heritage
- Episodes of Caymanian history that may have been forgotten or perhaps previously unknown
‘Journey to the Present’ was published on 6 Feb. and is now available at local bookstores and giftshops. Barnett can be contacted for more information on the book at 916-0142 or via email at [email protected]
