The George Town Public Library was transformed into a scene of elegance and inspiration on the evening of 16 April as young author Rozharia Riley officially launched her second book, ‘Amy’s Army of Grades’. The event drew a strong turnout of supporters, educators and community members, all gathered to celebrate literary achievement and youth empowerment.

Designed by Couture Events by Janetta Hemans, the venue featured a striking red-and-white theme that created a regal atmosphere. Guests were welcomed along a red carpet, leading to a thoughtfully arranged signing station adorned with decorative ropes, adding a ceremonial touch to the evening’s proceedings. Images from the event show vibrant décor, engaged attendees and the author interacting warmly with guests.

The evening was guided by Mistress of Ceremonies Sharon Danvers, whose professionalism, energy and engaging presence set the tone for a memorable programme. Attendees were treated to a series of meaningful presentations, including an address by Director of the National Council of Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) Katie Edwards, who highlighted the positive impact Riley’s books have had on young readers and the wider community.

Adding perspective, entrepreneur Jannee Knight of Ennaj Trees delivered a riveting speech, sharing her journey as a business owner and encouraging perseverance and resilience among aspiring individuals.

The central theme of the evening, ‘Reward or none, hard work should be done’, was brought to life during the author’s main address. Riley spoke eloquently about her new book and its purpose – to inspire young people to recognise their inherent worth beyond academic achievements and to embrace diligence regardless of external rewards.

The launch stands as a testament to the growing influence of young voices in literature and the importance of nurturing purpose-driven storytelling within the Cayman Islands.
