Young people in Windsor Park are now better equipped to play sports in their free time thanks to the team-work of Cayman Crime Stoppers and the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.
Crime Stoppers has provided a number of branded footballs and basketballs as part of a community sporting initiative spearheaded by neighbourhood officer Police Constable Cardiff Robinson. The equipment cost $400.
PC Robinson has worked closely with the Windsor Park community for the past year and he identified the need for sports.
“Young people in Windsor Park are no different from young people anywhere else in the world – they are full of energy,” Robinson said. “The challenge for us, and the wider community, is to ensure that the energy is channelled productively and that they don’t become tempted to get involved in anti-social behaviour or crime.
“We hope that the equipment provided will engender some team spirit in Windsor Park and ultimately contribute to the social development of the neighbourhood.”
