$8M revamp for Westin

The Westin Casuarina will begin an extensive renovation in August, the Compass has learned.

Upgrades to the restaurants, pool area, back office and behind the scenes facilities begins a wider refurbishment programme that represents a total investment of $8 million, said David Krech of Starwood Properties.

“We will use the slower season of August, September to undertake a complete room renovation, wing by wing. This includes both soft and hard goods such as curtains and furniture.

“We will also be upgrading all bathroom furniture, new carpeting and more.”

The last major refurbishment was ‘five or six years ago’, he told the Compass, and eventually all 343 rooms will be upgraded.

“We will do this in phases of 40 rooms at a time so it will not damage the guest experience. We will simply close off areas one by one and people will not even notice.

“There is no heavy work so no noise; it’s things like painting, carpeting and new furniture.”

  1. Westin and other hotels should seriously consider becoming greener, environmentally conscious. They should stop using those plastic cups with Westin logo. They should switch from chlorinated pool to salt water pool.
