It is important that the facts that relate to the proposed solution to the dump be properly laid out for the public; the George Town dump is not being relocated to Bodden Town, a state-of-the-art 21st Century waste management facility is being developed in the district of Bodden Town, the district which we are privileged to represent – for the benefit of the entire Island.
It cannot be acceptable to the people of the Cayman Islands that the PPM (including the independent member) and their cohorts are trying to pit the good people of Bodden Town against other Caymanians and residents. The dump problem is not a George Town problem or a Bodden Town problem but a Cayman Islands problem.
The Government is committed to putting in place effective and efficient solutions that address this dump debacle that the former PPM administration couldn’t and didn’t solve. And yet, even with their responsibility for these failures, the PPM (and the Independent member) have the audacity to use a serious issue related to the welfare of all Caymanians as a political football for political mileage.
The People of the Cayman Islands are entitled to answers to reasonable questions and to this point we, in the Government, are working to put in place the right solution for our waste management situation. We are carrying out a comprehensive review and design process to implement the correct solution for the waste management facility. The public is being intentionally misled to believe that the dump is being moved to Bodden Town and this would be very good reason for concern if it were happening – the facility to be developed in Bodden Town will bear no resemblance whatsoever to, nor will it be operated in a similar manner as the dump in George Town.
For the Opposition and/or Coalition to make the far-fetched assertions that the current location, in its current form, is acceptable is a slap in the face to future generations of Caymanians in Bodden Town, George Town and throughout our Islands. We need to implement a solution and the Government will be putting the right solution in place.
As elected members for Bodden Town, we can unequivocally say that we are not playing politics when it comes to what is in the best interest of the constituents we are privileged to serve. Further, it is interesting to note that there is a high level of insensitivity, anti-solution and nonsensical attacks against all who are working to contribute to a better Cayman through the well thought out plans that will result in a more environmentally sound waste management facility.
We are not prepared to face a staged performance of opposition and attack strategists who have no real interest in working with the Government to implement a real solution to our existing dump in George Town and the potential for the creation of the waste management facility in Bodden Town.
It is simply not acceptable to support mundane political rhetoric when we have the very existence of quality of life in the Cayman Islands being threatened by the current dump dilemma – left unsolved by the former PPM administration. The implementation of a proper waste management facility will positively address this problem. As elected members and part of the present Government we have an obligation to our country to uphold and direct policy that will be in the best interest of the Caymanian people. The direction that this Government has taken in relation to putting in place a solution for a proper waste management facility is the correct one, and subject to the proper protocols related to implementation of a waste management facility, we expect that the entire country will concur that we are doing the right thing at the right time for the people of the Cayman Islands.
In the coming days, we will be addressing a myriad of issues specifically related to the Bodden Town District. Look for the meetings notices and come out to hear the facts, ask the questions and show your support for the future of our Country.

What a bunch of hogwash; Who in their right mind would believe that they are going to pick up the trash for the old dump and put it in Bodden Town. Who are they saying believe that??.
What these people believe is that This same modern facility can be erected at the current dump location to deal with what is there now and future refuse..
Now if it is determined that it is not environmentally sound the do it in George Town, Bodden town may be the best alternative..
But’ Mr Scotland and Mr. Seymour I suggest that the Premiere speak for our national interest, and you speak for your district interest and concerns; of traffic, smell, pollution and lost in property value.
To accept a national view, do not exempt you from your district interest , If that was not the case all we would need is a dictator and a few lackeys..
The tone of this letter seem to point at resident of Bodden town as being unpatriotic.. To the contrary, residents who organized those meeting had a number of logical reasons why the dump should be managed in its current location. It is too bad your blinders only let you see within such a limited plane..
To point at the PPM and the independents as being at fault for the current dump mess tells me that you both have lost your marbles and are playing with nickas.
By the way, the only direction I see you all going is being led by the nose by a carrot on a sick..
Dwayne and Mark Scotland WE the people of BT is calling for your RESIGNATION!!!! WE DO NOT WANT YOU ALL TO REPRESENT US ANYMORE! YOU ARE A LAUGHING STOCK AND A SHAME AND DISGRACE TO THE BT PEOPLE!!!! We are NOT and I repeat NOT going to allow you all to bring that dumping site to BT! We the people of BT are going to be calling a meeting because you all have failed the people of BT, and we will be going around signing petitions to get you all thrown out of the house! Start packing for you are both DONE!!!!
FYI…there are many recycling companys doing the recycle thing on this island at this time mant tons are moved off the island every week …perhaps if you let the recyclers that exist now go to the landfill the landfill will disappear….and we wont have the problems we have now
